Three new Triumph models for 2012
Over the long weekend Triumph has officially announced three stunning new models that will find their way to our showroom in 2012.
Triumph Tiger Explorer
The first, and biggest announcement was the all new Triumph Tiger Explorer. While there have been rumours circulating about a new, bigger three cylinder engine for some time, Triumph has now confirmed this new model will be powered by an engine "in excess of 1200cc". Furthermore, this new model will be shaft-driven and loaded with new technology including ride-by-wire throttle with cruise control and both switchable ABS and traction control as standard. The Explorer will feature a 19" wheel at the front, with a 17" at the rear, which looks great thanks to the single sided swingarm.
Triumph Speed Triple R
When Triumph released the Daytona 675R, it really upped the calibre on the "R" badge, and it is great to see they have continued this with the new Speed Triple R. They have gone straight to the top shelf equipment from Ohlins for suspension including their famous TTX36 rear shock, and 43mm NIX30 front forks - both popular choices in the race scene. Stopping the bike will be two huge four-piston radial monoblock calipers at the front, with an option to add their electronic anti-lock brake system. And it doesn't stop there, you'll also get new light weight aluminium wheels from PVM, which save over 1.7kg of unsprung weight from the standard Speed Triple. As we have come to expect, the R model will be instantly recognisable in either metallic Phantom Black or Crystal White with a red subframe, gold forks and rear shock and those fantastic five spoke wheels.
Triumph Steve McQueen Edition
Finally, the most exclusive model for 2012 announced so far - The Steve McQueen Bonneville. Inspired by the Triumph Trophy TR6 he rode in the The Great Escape, this T100 based special edition looks absolutely stunning. Matt Khaki Green paint, military-style stencil decals, skid plate and a solo seat with luggage rack make this bike unique. Look closer and you'll see a black bodied headlight, black wheel rims and hubs, black handlebars, and rear springs all adding to the tough military styling of the bike. To finish the bike off, Triumph have added Steve McQueen's signature to the side panels, and individually numbered each bike with a special plaque on the handlebars. Owners will also recieve a special certificate of authenticity. With only 1,100 to be released world wide, and extremely limited numbers coming to New Zealand, if you are interested in owning one of these unique machines it would pay to register you interest with our sales team now!
